Mid Week Motivation - Paper Piecing

Hello there, Fliss here today with a little inspiration for the current challenge theme of Paper Piecing chosen by yours truly in the form of a tag using one of my favourite stamps at the moment, a Prima doll by the very talented collage artist Julie Nutting. Hope you like it.

I made the tag for this myself using the rather natty tag style packaging that comes with the doll as a pattern to cut my tag from thick white card. This is mainly because the doll is an amazing 19cm tall so needs something quite large as a base.
I coloured the tag by applying Peacock Feathers Distress ink to some crumpled wax paper, spritzing on a little water then swiping the tag over until it was covered in the slightly diluted ink. I then applied more of the ink direct from the pad with a sponge using my favourite Prima stencil (Flourish).
I stamped some of the borders from the Prima Welcome To Paris cling set with Memories black ink and added a couple of rows of faux stitching made with theTim Holtz ruler and a fine black pen.
I stamped the doll on thick smooth cartridge paper and just the frock element on some Crate Paper decorated paper from the DIY Shop paper pad with black ink. I coloured the doll parts with Aquamarkers then cut her out along with the frock and added the frock to the image with double sided tape.
I made a layered flower with some plain Prima flowers and a patterned one using the same paper die cut using a Hot Off The Press Bodacious Blooms die set. I added a small paper rose to the centre.
I assembled the tag as you see, adding some cream crochet lace, a dotty black bow and some Paper Artsy text with some hessian type wired leaves.

I hope you're now inspired to enter if you haven't done so already as it really is very easy to paper piece!

Fliss xx

Paper Piecing

Good morning everyone and welcome to a brand new challenge here at Make My Monday.
It's Fliss here with your challenge this week and I picked a theme which features a technique that I think I should use a lot more than I do, especially when short on time as it's so much quicker than colouring.
So the challenge is to create something using

PAPER PIECING

Midweek Motivation - Photo Inspiration

Happy Wednesday,

I thought I would pop back and see how you are all getting on with our 'PHOTO INSPIRATION' challenge this week. Don't forget there is still time to join in and you can find full details of the challenge HERE.

I have another little piece of inspiration for you today, showing a different interpretation of the photo. Here's what I made ...

This time I have used the colour, the oval, the bunting and the little birdie house from the photo and just used inks in my interpretation, rather than lots of fancy papers and embellishments. If you haven't entered yet, I hope it gives you a little more inspiration.

Photo Inspiration

Good morning everyone and welcome to a brand new challenge here at Make My Monday.

Although I have been a member of the team for a few months now, this is the first time that I have hosted a challenge and I am really looking forward to seeing all your gorgeous creations.

So here goes with
'PHOTO INSPIRATION'

This week we would love you to use the photo below as your inspiration for the challenge.  You can take the colour, the theme, a specific element or all of the above to create your project - and remember it doesn't have to be a card.

Here is some inspiration from myself and the team:

Mid-Week Motivation for a Non-Inked Stamp or New Decoupage

Every week on a Wednesday the Design Team member of Make My Monday, who chose the challenge theme provides you with a Mid- Week Motivation project to hopefully guide, instruct or simply inspire you. I decided to make 3 bookmarks where I have used the same new stamp but in different ways, hoping to give that inspiration if you need it.

The Bookmark on the LEFT is a simple Monochrome approach, using a white piece of card, and a black ink pad for the stamp. I have also added further interest stamping a few leaves from another set of stamps. I dragged around the outer edge with the chisel nib of a black marker pen. Added fibres and ribbons.
The CENTRE example shows how my adding pretty papers to your bookmark, you don't need to add any further colouring to the background. I have only coloured the birds, made a small flower using a stamp and again added fibres and ribbon.
The final bookmark on the RIGHT is more of a Vintage style, I coloured the background with TH Distress inks Old Paper, Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain. All the stamping was done using a black ink pad. I added a piece of lace and a fancy button, along with the fibres and ribbon to embellish it.
Stamps Used----
Left -Bird Cage with two birds from Inkylicious. My non - inked stamp.
Left - Leaves - Paperartsy - Flora and Fauna 3
Centre -The small flower - from Dreamees
Right Border top and bottom from La Blanche stamps.

A Non-Inked Stamp or A New sheet of Decoupage

Hello everyone, wasn't last week a great week with all the various forms of balloons flying around, don't forget to come back on Sunday 14th for the announcement of the Top 3. For this week, I, Caz, would like you to use a stamp you have which has never seen ink or had any application of any kind. It may (or may not)  be a NEW stamp, you could have had it a long time, how many of us, have bought a stamp and are still to use it?  This is THE time. Or if your not a stamper, whether from a CD or a purchased sheet of decoupage, now is the time to use it, in a project.
Challenge then is A Non-Inked Stamp or A New sheet of Decoupage. Hope you have fun everyone.

Midweek Motivation - Balloons

Hi Folks - there's still time to take part in this week's challenge, all the details can be found - HERE. Our challenge this week is
BALLOONS
The card I made Monday featured hot air balloons so today I thought I show you some party balloons - take a look

This really was the simplest of cards to make - the sentiment was stamped down the side of the card in gray with one in a strawberry pink colour. The balloons are the same stamps I used for my hot air balloons but without the baskets. I joined them to the sentiment with some hand drawn lines.
